There is another true pleasure in a space that controls light: the sheer beauty of the "shadows" that light drops into the darkness.
Traditional Japanese architecture doesn't just chase brightness; it intentionally designs the dark areas.
By passing through the wooden lattice (koshido), the harsh sunlight is filtered and transformed into a geometric pattern of light and shadow on the floor and walls.
